Think
You Are a Great Multi-Tasker?
Being an effective communicator, requires that the Coach pay 100% attention
to the speaker. The brain does not have the capacity to multi task. At
best it can be described as continuous partial attention.
The following quotes and websites provide additional evidence of this.....
"To do two things at once - is to do neither," Roman
philosopher Publilius Syrus wrote in 100 A.D., and modern science may
just be proving
him right.
Turns out that our capacity to multitask is far more limited than most
of us think, and that in some situations, this misunderstanding can be
downright dangerous.
In some recent work
you can visit the control tower of a busy airport and talk to air traffic
controllers who say that they’re
not really multitasking at all, and talk to orchestral conductors about
the challenge
of directing the polymetric compositions of Charles Ives.
